Workforce Development (WFD) Network

Helping services give better care and support

This network is for managers, HR professionals and trainers.

It looks at ways to support social care workers so they can offer better quality care and support for people who use services.

It aims to help employers

  • get, look after, develop and keep staff.

In recent years this group has discussed issues including

  • learning and Development opportunities
  • legal requirements
  • employment terms and conditions.

ARC NI sits on the Department of Health’s Fair Work Forum which produced a report on steps required to enable the social care sector becoming a Real Living Wage Employer (RLW).  In February 2026, the Minister of Health reaffirmed his commitment to fund the independent sector adult social care staff who provide direct care through commissioned services, in order to deliver the RLW for these staff.
