Muckamore Abbey Hospital Inquiry
ARC NI Statement following the publication of the Muckamore Abbey Hospital Inquiry Report
Living Long, Living Well. We want to know what needs to change?
The ‘Living Longer, Living Well’ campaign was launched as part of Learning Disability Week 2026. TILII Translates create an Easy Read explaining the things you can do to live well. During the week, the learning disability community shared their stories, their achievements and explained the things that matter to them.
TILII worked with 14 organisations to make three films for YouTube. We also made a short social media film called PROUD, bringing together photos and videos from the week. The films showed the many ways people with a learning disability live their lives. They showed friendship, community, work, sport, creativity, achievement and having fun.
Most importantly, they showed that people with a learning disability have their own hopes, choices and dreams. People told us what Living Longer, Living Well means to them and why it is important to be listened to, included and supported to live the life they choose.
Now we want to hear from you. We want to find out what life is really like for people with a learning disability, autism and other support needs as they get older. And if there are gaps in existing services.
We want to know:
TILII has created an Easy Read questionnaire to help us find out what people think. We know that people with a learning disability, autism and other support needs, face barriers when trying to get the right support. And now we want to hear about people’s real experiences so we can understand what is working well and where more support may be needed.
We want to hear from as many people as possible.
If you have a learning disability, autism or other support needs, please take some time to complete the questionnaire and tell us what you think. You can ask a family member, friend or support worker to help you if you need support to complete it.
Please post your completed questionnaire to:
Association for Real Change Northern Ireland (ARC NI)

Together, we can help make sure people with a learning disability are listened to, included and supported to live longer and live well.
