TILII

At ARC NI we believe in the ‘Nothing About Us, Without Us’ approach.  And that is why people with a learning disability, autism and other support needs have been front and centre throughout our work since we began in 1999.  Our Telling It Like It Is (TILII) members are Experts By Experience.  And they have helped shape policy and practice for over 20 years.

TILII are often invited to

  • speak at events
  • tell people what they think about important things happening in Northern Ireland
  • take part in research and projects that look at new ways of doing things.

But TILII do much much more, they:

Deliver training.

Make educational films.

Create Easy Reads, making information accessible to everyone.

And they have fun!

Main purpose of Group Advocacy Leader

As a Group Advocacy Leader, you’ll support TILII members in groups within local communities.  You’ll empower them to speak up, advocate for their rights, and tackle issues that matter most. This role combines high-quality service delivery with the development of new opportunities in partnership with TILII members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate group advocacy activities, including facilitating meetings and events.
  • Collaborate with individuals, families, and organisations to identify common issues and develop strategies for change.
  • Represent ARC NI at events, in public consultations and policy discussions to advocate for the rights and inclusion of our community.
  • Create high-quality, creative materials like Easy Reads, films, and reports that amplify these voices.

This is your chance to lead meaningful change while being part of a supportive, values-driven team.

  • Is skilled at amplifying under-represented voices

What We Offer

  • Flexibility: Hybrid working and a flexi-time system

  • Pension Contribution: 5% employer contribution to a pension plan
  • Purpose: Be part of a movement that supports individuals with a learning disability to have their voices heard and rights recognised
