Active Support and Citizenship explores a model of support which enables people with learning disabilities, autism and other support needs to engage more in their lives and helps staff to offer the right support so everyone can flourish as unique individuals.
By the end of the course learners will:
- explore the subtle but very important distinction between caring for someone and supporting them
- explore a model of support that ensures teams promote inclusion, choice, participation, and independence in everyday activities for the people they are supporting
- consider active support as a set of tools which enable staff to guide people who need support, to learn new skills and/or participate more in everyday activities
- understand how Active Support can enable staff to develop positive behaviour support and protocols to ensure people are support in a consistent way.
PLEASE NOTE:
Joining instructions and access link for this training will be sent to learners approximately one week in advance of the training.
