Human Rights Day 2025
ARC NI and Team TILII are celebrating Human Rights Day 2025
Carers Week is happening from 9th-15th June this year. Across the UK people will be celebrating and recognising the incredible people who look after others. It was started to raise awareness of what carers do, celebrate the love and care they give, and to make sure they get the support they need too.
There are lots of different kinds of carers. Some are unpaid family members like mums, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, and friends. Some are paid staff who support us in our homes, day centres, or out in the community, like our Lou does in TILII. But whether they’re related to us or not, they all do something special, they help us live full, happy lives.
Across our TILII groups, we’ve been talking about what carers mean to us. We all agreed that we couldn’t do the things we do without them. They help us try new things, be confident, stay healthy, and do the things that make us feel good.
One TILII member, David, said: “My carer knows just what to do when I’m anxious, to help me feel better.”
Buddy said: “My mum and my family supports me every single day. They are amazing.”
Kevin said: “My support worker helps me to try new things and live my life to the full. I’m just back from Nashville visiting my hero Elvis Presley at Graceland!”
And Liam said: “Coming to TILII gives me a voice, and Lou helps to make sure I get heard.”
Carers don’t just help with the big stuff, they’re there for the little things too. A cup of tea. A joke when you’re feeling low. A helping hand or a hug. They don’t do it for praise or attention; they do it because they care.
We know caring isn’t always easy. It can be long hours and tough days. But please know this, what you do matters, and we notice.
So, from all of us at TILII Thank you for standing beside us, believing in us, and helping us live the lives we want.
You’re not just carers; You’re legends and total stars!
