Human Rights Day 2025
ARC NI and Team TILII are celebrating Human Rights Day 2025
QUB and Ulster University need your support to understand how the eye could help identify Alzheimer’s disease.
Queens University Belfast and Ulster University are inviting people with Down syndrome aged 6-50 years to take part in a research study at the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Facility in Belfast City Hospital. This exciting study is called the REVEAL study. The study will look at how the eye is a window to our health. We are also interested in understanding how the eye could show early signs of Alzheimer’s disease.
If you agree to take part in the REVEAL study, you will be invited to come to the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Facility (Belfast City Hospital). Travel costs will be supplied. First, to check that you are able to take part, we will ask you some questions about your eye and general health. We will measure your vision and ask you to complete some memory games. Next, we will take photographs of the inside of your eyes. We would also like to take tear, spit (saliva) and blood samples.
