🌟 Black Moon Club Nights – from Armagh to beyond! 🌟

Aug 1, 2024

Happening every month, they just keep getting bigger and better!

Black Moon club nights are a big event for many people. They happen every month and just keep getting bigger and better, bringing great music and dancing to people all across Northern Ireland, not just in Belfast.

Recently, Black Moon DJs have performed a set at the Stendhal Festival and held a fantastic Pop-up Picnic Party in Ormeau Park. These were great chances to enjoy the sunshine, make new friends, and celebrate being part of the community.

Now, on 12th September, Black Moon is teaming up with incredABLE to host a special Movie Night Disco at the Armagh City Hotel. It will be a night full of bangin’ tunes, dancing, and fun!

Black Moon Club Nights and Meaningful Lives

Black Moon club nights are made by and for people with a learning disability. These events give people a safe and welcoming space to connect, have fun, express themselves, and PARTY.

Doing meaningful activities, like these club nights, is important because it helps to

  • build relationships
  • develop life skills and independence
  • improve health and wellbeing and
  • be part of the community.

Black Moon’s work is a great example of how we can help create meaningful lives for everyone, especially for people who face challenges in joining in. Black Moon has made a big difference by creating a space where everyone can feel included.

Stay Up Late Campaign

Many people with a learning disability have to leave the dancefloor early when they go to club nights or gigs. The dance floor starts to empty because support workers, who help people go out at night, often finish their work at 10 or 10:30 pm. This means many adults with learning disabilities have to leave music gigs early, even if they want to stay and dance.

This problem has been talked about for many years by the Stay Up Late campaign. This campaign was started by the inclusive punk band Heavy Load.  Their TedX talk is well worth a watch.

How do you make sure people with a learning disability enjoy a full night out?
